Masala Rice

How to make Masala Chawal (Masala signified spices, and chawal signified rice
Ingredients:
100 g. of Basmati Rice soaked in water for 10-15 minutes
2 cups of normal water
1 medium size of red onion (sliced) 
½ tea spoon of cumin powder
½ tea spoon of coriander power
½ tea spoon of Garam masala powder
½ tea spoon of turmeric powder
½ tea spoon of red chilli powder, if you like chilli add it otherwise, instead of chilli add sweet paprika powder.
1 star anise
2 green cardamoms
2 table spoons of ghee/oil
1 table spoon of cashew nuts
1 table spoon of raisins
 
Few chopped coriander leaves
Few cumin seeds
Salt to taste or one tea spoon  
Preparation:
Take a heavy bottom pan add oil or ghee and cumin seeds
When you see the cumin started changing the colour add the sliced onion, fry them for a minute.
Now add all the spices, anise, cardamoms, coriander leaves, dried fruits, paprika powder and salt. Fry them all for a minute .Add the rice and water, cover it and cook it for 15 minutes.
It is ready to serve with any kind of curries J
